The realization that my college career is going to be over in six months is devastating. The safety net is going to be removed as I am stripped of the security of just "one more" semester or class. In preparation for this devastating time, I have come to realize I want to be prepared for a measure of possibilities after my college career. Although my major does not require me to have an internship, I thought it would be more than beneficial to have one. So I found one.
The best part is, is that this opportunity came about through me doing a job shadow and my inquire about an internship possibility through this company. In the beginning I thought it was far fetched, out of reach, and wouldn't come about until after I graduated. Little did I know they had been having meetings about the creation of an internship for their company. During the second week of January I contacted the company and they were delighted that I had reached out as they wanted me to be their "guinea pig." I was elated. I knew this internship could lead to more possibilities within the company and make me a diverse individual as I learn different avenues of the business. That being said ...
I am nervous as hell! I set the bar high for myself and I have four talented siblings that I often compare myself to. This is going to be a learning experience for me, as well as them. I have realized that although there will be nerves, I have to put them aside and preform at my highest level as I do at our family restaurant. I am excited to be challenged and use methods I have learned throughout college and apply them to real situations in a working environment.
T-MINUS 1 DAY ..
